Module description

WBE2R-R-LORA is an extension module for Wiren Board controllers that organizes wireless communication between the controller and Wiren Board devices with LoRa. At the software level, communication takes place via the Modbus protocol.

Not suitable for devices with LoRaWan.

Installation

When ordering modules bundled with the Wiren Board controller, we install them in production - you only need to configure the modules in web interface of the controller.

If you bought the modules separately, install them yourself:

1. Disassemble the controller case.
2. Insert the module, observing the polarity: the protrusion on it must fit into the groove on the controller board.

Модуль совместим с контроллерами Wiren Board 6, Wiren Board 7 и Wiren Board 8 всех ревизий, его можно установить:

• Wiren Board 6.3–6.6 — до 2 модулей в слоты MOD1­-MOD2.
• Wiren Board 6.7–7.x — до 3 модулей в слоты MOD1­-MOD3, при установке в MOD3 потребуется удалить мешающий выступ на корпусе контроллера с помощью кусачек или напильника.
• Wiren Board 8.4 — до 3 модулей в слоты MOD1­-MOD3.

Change access level

Administrator level

To change the settings of the controller, you need the Administrator access level, which can be set in the Settings → Permissions section.

After completing the settings, we recommend that you set the access level to User or Operator - this will help you avoid making random mistakes when working with the web interface every day.

Connection of expansion modules in the web interface of the Wiren Board controller

After the module is physically connected, it must be added to the controller configuration:

1. In the web interface, go to the section Settings → Configs → Hardware Modules Configuration, select the Internal slot where the module is installed extensions.
2. In the Module type drop-down list, select the name of the installed module.
3. Press the Save button. The controller will enable the ports required for the module to work.

To remove a module, select the type None.

Work

Once configured, the port is available on the system as /dev/ttyMODx, where x is the slot number. This port must be specified when working with devices via modbus_client or the wb-mqtt-serial driver.

Device revisions

The batch number can be found on a sticker on the side of the case or on the PCB.
