MicroSD extension module (WBE-MICROSD)
Hardware
The extension module uses MCP2551 physical layer interface. CAN interface signals are galvanically isolated from the controller.
Can be installed only to MOD2 extension slot.
The module contains a 150 Ohm terminator between the H and L lines. To enable it, close the jumper on the top edge of the board.
Operation in UART-CAN mode
The WBE-I-CAN-ISO module operates in UART-CAN mode. The UART-CAN bus (also called sometimes simply CAN or RS-CAN) uses the physical can layer for the half-duplex serial port of the UART.
The UART-CAN bus is mainly used in metering devices such as Mercury energy meters.
In UART-CAN mode, the module can be installed in any expansion slot, so you can install two WBE-I-CAN-ISO modules
Pinout
CAN signals are routed to the expansion module terminals O1-O3.
Pinouot:
Terminal | Function |
---|---|
O1 | CAN L |
O2 | CAN H |
O3 | CAN GND (Isolated GND) |
Configuration
Configuration is set in the web interface: Configs section => Hardware Modules Configuration.
For CAN mode: in Internal slot 2, select "WBE-I-CAN-ISO" and click Save.
For UART-CAN mode: make sure that the corresponding slot (Internal slot 1 or Internal slot 2) is set to "None".
The device is detected immediately, no reboot is required.
Operation
In CAN mode, it is defined as can1. About can on Linux, see CAN.
Module operates in UART-CAN mode identically to the RS-485 extension module, see description.
Compatibility table
Mode | Controller | Audit | MOD1 | MOD2 |
---|---|---|---|---|
